Vintage Beauties from Days Gone By

ABOVE: POPULAR VINTAGE MODEL WILLIE AMSTELL

Bob Mizer was a pioneer of male erotic imagery first starting out in 1942
when his male nude photography first emerged. But by 1947 he faced
the wrath of American censorship and was forced to serve time in Prison for
distributing his work through the U.S Mail postal service.

Mizer first established his now iconic magazine Physique Pictorial
in 1945. And by the 1950's many other photographers came out of the
woodwork to pursue and create similar photographic studios.
Amazingly he made over 3,000 films from the early 1950's right up to
the early 1980's. He passed away at the age of 70 in 1992.

Thankfully his great legacy is very much intact with the recent setting up
of The Bob Mizer Foundation thanks to filmmaker Denis Bell.

Above is a short trailer film featuring the Best of Jim Paris, surely one of
the twinkiest models from the AMG (Athletic Model Guild).
And further down below are a few more of my favourite models.

MORE ON JIM PARIS @ THE BOB MIZER FOUNDATION.
An article indicating just how popular this model was.

Above and below is vintage AMG model John Davidson
who in a way looks very much of today.
And there's more about him and his tragic early demise on the pages of
TALES OF WEST HOLLYWOOD.

Above and below is vintage blonde beauty Willie Amstel
who appears alongside Chas Cooper.
And there's lots more Willie (pardon the pun) that can be
seen on a blog in my links called.....

VINTAGE MEN FROM BACK THEN

Above and below: The almost now legendary Joe Dallesandro
who kicked off his career by appearing in AMG movies and
magazine images.
Of course Joe went on to star in several of Andy Warhol's classic
underground movies including Flesh, Trash, Heat and Lonesome Cowboys.
Now aged 70, Joe has often been described as one of the most
beautiful men of the twentieth Century.

Below: After moving on from Bob Mizer's AMG, Joe was discovered
by Andy Warhol and became part of the Warhol factory crowd.
The images below were taken around the time of Joe's appearance
in Warhol's film Flesh (1968), probably at a time where he was looking at
his very best.

Below: Joe on the cover of the 1971 Films and Filming magazine
to promote Andy Warhol's latest movie 'Trash.'

Yet another vintage blonde beauty going by the name of Faulkner Morgan,
although there seems to be so few images of him around.
But I do know that there was a feature on him in one of the most recent
editions of Physique Pictorial, as mentioned above.

Image below shows Faulkner on the right.

If poster shops like Athena were ever to make a comeback then this iconic image
above would surely be a hot seller.
On the left is Nick Gypsy Rose. And on the right is the utterly adorable
Blue Max Hensley.
