Google's Latest Spoiler.....Age Verification.

I began to wonder this week why so many visitors here have not been able to access this blog.

It appears that Google have decided to implement an Age-Verification system which they

have now on ALL Adult Google Blogs.

I just this moment tried to visit five popular Google Blogs in my Blog list on this page while signed

out of Google, and was denied access to those Blogs unless I signed in. Are those Blog owners even

aware of this and how many visitors they're now losing.

So after asking for some explanation at Google Help, this was the response from them.

Yes Dee, for blogs under Adult Warning, it is required for the user to LOGIN to verify

the user's age. If not, then there's no way for Google to know if the user is in the right

age group - if the user have set them up appropriately.

So clearly this is going to change the face of Blogging as I know for a fact that many

visitors here have never wanted to open a Google/Blogger account and will 

probably continue not to do so.

So where does that leave us? The choice is to either clean up this blog by removing all Adult

content, then the actual Adult Warning sign, making it a much less interesting place to visit but

open to everyone.

Or to carry on as it is and except the huge loss of visitors, creating for a much smaller Google

only crowd. Not a very inspiring thought.
