At aged 12 she was inspired by androgynous images of the Korean fashion
model Kaito, even
going on at that young age to become a fashion model for Pichi Lemon,
only later to become
an influential figure for women in Japan's genderless fashion
subculture.
Satsuki Nakayama features in the video below in which I.D Magazine visits
Tokyo's fashion
district where many of Japan's genderless youth work, preferring a life
of colour, excitement,
punk and alternative fashions, compared to a starchy and highly stressful
life in Japan's
corporate business world.
In August 2019 Satsuki Nakayama came out as Asexual and Non Binary, then later coming out
as a Transgender man in 2021.
But if there's any one race that can pull off the androgynous look, then it surely must be
beautiful Asian people.
